Over three centuries since a cataclysmic event ravaged Earth, humanity has regressed to a primitive existence, with the ruins of once-great cities, now all but dust, lost in the ether of time. Survivors, driven into the wilderness, formed small enclaves struggling against starvation and violence. By the 23rd century, that was more like the 12th century, new governance emerged under warlords called sheriffs, who rebuilt towns with a feudal grip, stripping away freedoms.

In Nottingham, under the sheriff of Newark’s oppressive rule, heavy taxes and strict controls push residents to the brink. In the village of Loxley, a rebellion is brewing. Led by Big Tim, the village elder, alongside a resilient miller, and Robyn’s father, a skilled carpenter, come leatherworker, the villagers prepare to stand against the sheriff’s tyranny.

Robyn and her friends fight back when Loxley is ravaged by the sheriff, taking most of the adults as slaves to pay off the taxes.
